About clinic
The Leipzig Cardiology Center is part of the Helios network and is part of the Helios Park-Klinik Leipzig medical complex. The Leipzig Cardiology Center specializes in the surgical treatment of diseases of the heart and blood vessels close to the heart.
The Cardiology Center is one of the leading centers in Europe, its specialists perform safe and most effective cardiac surgery, and use the latest and most advanced methods of treatment in the field of cardiology medicine.
The Leipzig Cardiology Center is located next to the historic city center, in a prestigious area with parks and lakes. Half an hour from the hospital is the city's international airport Chkoidze.
- Availability of a modern hybrid operating system.
- Joint work of cardiac surgeons and cardiologists in interdisciplinary groups.
- The center is a pioneer in the field of TAVI and is certified by the German Society of Cardiology for the high quality of operations.
- An experienced team of diverse doctors.
- 9 awards and certificates of federal significance.
- Clinical studies are conducted that affect the development of cardiology at the world level.
Aortic Center
The department employs an interdisciplinary team consisting of cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, vascular surgeons, angiologists, and interventional radiologists to determine the best individual treatment plan.
The department has an aortic outpatient clinic that treats patients with aortic diseases, provides care before and after surgery, provides specialist advice and a second medical opinion.
And there is also a Center for Adults with Congenital Heart Defects (GUCH), where they receive a full range of cardiological care:
- Echocardiography (transthoracic, transesophageal, 3D, intracardiac);
- Cardiac catheterization;
- Minimally invasive treatment of structural heart diseases;
- Implantation of pacemakers and ICDs;
- Ablation in cardiac arrhythmia;
- Diagnostic procedures;
- Consultations for pregnant women;
- Treatment and care of patients with pulmonary hypertension;
- Consultation with a psychologist;
- Consultation of a social service specialist.
Anesthesiology and intensive care
Experienced specialists, anesthesiologists and resuscitators of the department prepare and accompany the patient throughout the entire surgical intervention.
Heart Surgery
The Leipzig Cardiology Center is a clinic of excellence in the surgical treatment of heart failure. Specialists of the department perform a full range of cardiac surgeries for patients with acquired or congenital heart defects.
Every year, the Center performs about 3,500 cardiac procedures and constantly conducts research to develop new standards of treatment. Operations are performed mainly minimally invasive, in extremely rare cases, cardiac surgeons resort to the method of opening the sternum.
The separation is carried out:
- Reconstruction of the tricuspid valve;
- Lung Transplantation (LTX);
- A heart transplant;
- Implantation of an artificial heart;
- Surgery for congenital heart defects.
Cardiology
In the Department of Cardiology, surgeons annually perform a huge number of different heart operations, mainly using minimally invasive methods. Including mitral valve surgery. Cardiac surgeons of the clinic perform transcatheter reconstruction of the mitral valve using MITRACLIP. Such operations are carried out by cardiography, which includes a cardiac surgeon and a cardiologist.
Specialists of the department successfully treat mitral valve stenosis, and the patient can choose to replace it with a biological or mechanical prosthesis. Stenosis of the aortic valve is also eliminated by prosthetics or, if possible, reconstruction of the aortic valve is performed.
In the treatment of aortic valve stenosis, TAVI surgery (catheter implantation of the aortic valve) is used. TAVI's operations are performed in a hybrid operating room, which is connected to a fully equipped cardiac surgery operating room and a cardiac catheterization laboratory. This type of surgery is necessarily accompanied by an interdisciplinary team of cardiac surgeons and cardiologists.
Children's Cardiology Center
At the Leipzig Cardiology Center, experienced cardiologists and pediatricians treat children with congenital and acquired heart defects.
The center offers patients a full range of interventional methods on a routine basis, including percutaneous replacement of the pulmonary valve. One of the main areas of the clinic is catheter interventions, which account for almost 60 % of the total number of operations.
The separation is carried out:
- Treatment of stenosis of blood vessels on the valves;
- Correction of congenital heart defects;
- Therapy of pathological vascular connections;
- Cachetero prosthetic heart valve.
Hospital hygiene
The department specializes in the prevention of infectious diseases and educates about the choice, dosage, use and duration of use of anti-infectious agents, especially antibiotics, to achieve the best clinical concept of patient treatment.
Radiology
Doctors of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology specialize in non-invasive diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases. For visualization, CT, MRI, X-ray and other modern methods are used.
Rhythmology
Cent's specialty is cardiac arrhythmia. Cardiologists of the department are engaged in the rhythmization of the heart rate and the treatment of arrhythmias. Herzzentrum Leipzig is the largest treatment center in Europe for this common CVD disease.
Structural heart disease
The department specializes in the treatment of elderly patients with structural heart diseases, especially with pathologies of the heart valves. Due to the fact that this category of patients is included in the risk group, cardiologists of the clinic choose the best treatment option for each patient individually.
