Professor Alexander Geiger
Areas of work: development of new diagnostic and prognostic test systems for hematological diseases, conducting clinical studies on the treatment of B-cell neoplasms (chronic lymphocytic leukemia, lymphoma), immunotherapy in hematooncology, development of a vaccine against leukemia and cancer WT1, analysis of gene expression in Hematology (microchip and real-time PCR), development of molecular classification of hematological diseases. Member of the Austrian society of Hematology and Oncology, the American society of Hematology (ASH), the American Association for cancer research (AACR), and the Austrian society for internal medicine psychotherapy.
Awards: Wilhelm Turk Award of the Austrian society of Hematology and Oncology (1994), Scientific award in the field of pediatric Hematology and Oncology from the Austrian Committee of the Children's cancer Foundation (1996), Schrodinger Fellowship of the year (FWF) 1997, SBIR Grant from the National institutes of health (NIH, USA) (1999).
